The upcoming Sony WF-1000XM4 TWS earphones have leaked in an official product video. The video was apparently posted on YouTube but was later taken down. However, someone reposted it on Reddit and is still up on the platform as of this writing.
The leaked video reveals pretty much everything about the new pair of earbuds from the Japanese company. Below is a summary of it. We have also attached a bunch of screenshots from the video below, in case it gets removed from Reddit as well.
Sony WF-1000XM4 leaked in an official product video
The Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds are said to feature improved ANC (active noise cancellation) and the company is starting off with this very feature in this leaked video. Each bud features a new custom Sony V1 integrated processor and a pair of microphones on the sides to enable a more effective ANC.
The Sony V1 chipset, along with new and improved driver units, also brings richer and fuller sound. The company is promising high-res audio as well, even with compressed music files, thanks to support for DSEE Extreme. The earbuds also support 360 Reality Audio and LDAC streaming, Sony’s proprietary audio coding technology.
The Speak-To-Chat feature will automatically pause music when you enter a conversation with someone. It turns off NFC if the earbuds detect that you are speaking. The earbuds also automatically adapt to the ambient sound if you’re roaming in public places. If you’re waiting for public transport, the earbuds will let through announcements while filtering the ambient noise. You can also create location-based profiles so earbuds automatically adjust the sound settings when you reach that location.
Automatic wind noise suppression will ensure optimum sound quality during outdoor activities. The new Sony earbuds are IPX4 certified for water resistance. So they should be safe to use during light rains.
The Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds have microphones with beamforming technology and a bone conduction sensor to ensure excellent voice quality during calls. For voice assistants, the earbuds come with Google Assitant and Amazon Alexa.
Sony promises 8 hours of battery life
Sony is promising up to eight hours of runtime on a single charge of the earbuds. The charging case can supply another 16 hours’ worth of power for a total of 24 hours of battery life. Previous reports have suggested that the earbuds will last up to 36 hours with ANC turned off. For battery top-up, the case features a USB Type-C port but also supports standard Qi wireless charging. Five minutes of fast charging will provide 60 minutes of runtime.
The Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds have been leaked extensively in recent weeks but this latest leak now leaves little to the imagination. The two-and-a-half-minute-long video shows the buds in the previously rumored black and silver colors. A report last week claimed that the wearable will retail for a recommended price of €279.90 in Europe. So, with pretty much everything leaked, Sony might officially announce the new buds anytime now.
