Fitbit launched its last Charge-branded wearable, the Fitbit Charge 4, in March last year. It appears the company is now gearing up to launch its successor — the Fitbit Charge 5. The device has just appeared in a bunch of leaked high-resolution renders, revealing its design from all angles.
The leaked renders suggest a shift in the design language from the previous model, with Fitbit opting for more rounded edges over the sharp ones. This rounded, softer touch applies to the strap as well. The Fitbit Charge 5 seemingly comes in at least three color variants (see the featured image above).
Talking about color, Fitbit is seemingly offering its new Charge wearable with a colored touch screen. The older model featured a backlit greyscale touch screen. The Fitbit Charge 5 also doesn’t retain the haptic button that you can find on the side left of the Charge 4. Instead, Fitbit seems to have included longer pads on either side.
These pads will likely let you navigate through the menus or perhaps offer some added functionality an ECG reader, or even a BIA (Bio-electrical Impedance Analysis) sensor. Samsung’s recently launched Galaxy Watch 4 comes with a BIA sensor to measure your body composition.
There’s not much else to talk about these leaked Fitbit Watch 5 renders. And, unfortunately, we don’t have any information regarding its specs and features either. But considering it’s a fitness band and a successor to the Fitbit Charge 4, it should be safe to assume that the upcoming device will offer most of the specs and features found in its predecessor.
Fitbit included built-in GPS support in Charge 4 and there’s no reason Charge 5 will not retain this feature. Likewise, features like a SpO2 sensor, heart rate monitor, sleep tracker, skin temperature tracking, activity tracking, guided breathing sessions, and NFC support should also be found in Charge 5.
Last year’s model didn’t impress many reviewers with its battery life. While the band did run for up to four or five days on a single charge, it lasted just hours with GPS turned on. Hopefully, the Fitbit Charge 5 will improve a bit in this regard.
Fitbit Charge 5 might launch on October 23
There’s still no official word regarding when the new Fitbit band will arrive in the market. However, the leaked renders reveal what could be its release date: October 23. You can expect to hear more about the Fitbit Charge 5 in the build-up to its launch. We will let you know once the device is officially announced.
