While we are already close to the official debut of Android 12, Motorola is not yet done with Android 11. In a recent development, the first-gen Motorola Razr is receiving the Android 11 update.
Motorola Razr was the first foldable from the company that went on against the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. The second-gen model of the Razr had its few upsides compared to the Z Flip, thanks to that big cover display.
However, Samsung took notice of this and has introduced a much practical and bigger cover display with the recently launched Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphone.
The important thing to note here, is Motorola took more than a year to update the Moto Razr 2019 model from Android 10 to Android 11. Yes, the previous version of Android OS (we can call it “the previous version” because Android 12 is on its way) is hitting the Motorola Razr 2019.
Although it may look like Motorola is too late to join the Android 11 party, but the Razr 5G, released in 2020, started bagging the Android 11 update sometime around April and July. So, you should get the idea.
Not an ideal time for receiving an Android 11 update on your device while other brands are gearing up for Android 12.
The Motorola Razr 2019 Android 11 update arrives with a build RPV31.Q2-62-7-10
Apart from being awfully late, the update has one more thing to ruin your mood. Notably, it comes with the July 2021 Android security patchset, and not the August 2021 patch.
For whatsoever reason, if you are still rocking the 2019 Motorola Razr device, then you should receive the Android 11 update with build RPV31.Q2-62-7-10.
Talking about new features, it comes with all the Android 11 goodies along with some Motorola perks as well. For instance, it brings new conversation bubbles, new home screen controls within the power menu, and more.
Sadly, as noted by DroidLife, most of these features you will get with Android 11 will be dropped with Android 12. Thankfully, Motorola Razr 2019 users will have ample amount of time to use the Android 11 features because Android 12 won’t be arriving anytime soon.
The update has been released via OTA in batches and will arrive gradually for all users. However, if you wish to check for the update manually, you can do that by heading over to Settings.
Then tap on About Phone -> System update. A notification will pop up if the update is live in your region. Simply tap on it to begin the download and installation process.
