Sketchy OnePlus 9T Rumor Tips 108MP Hasselblad Camera & ColorOS

A sketchy OnePlus 9T rumor surfaced on Twitter, claiming that the phone will feature a 108MP Hasselblad camera setup, and ship with ColorOS out of the box.

This tip comes from ‘American Megatrends’, not exactly a usual source of such rumors. The source claims that the “OnePlus 9T 5G” will launch in the third quarter of this year. That does seem to be a bit sooner than expected. The T series OnePlus smartphones usually arrive in Q4.

That being said, the source also claims that the OnePlus 9T will feature a 108MP Hasselblad quad camera setup on the back. On top of that, ColorOS 11 is tipped to come pre-installed, on top of Android 11.

This is a lot to take in. All three of these tidbits seem a bit fishy. OnePlus doesn’t usually announce its T series smartphones this early. It also usually doesn’t bring a brand new main camera sensor with the T series smartphones.

OnePlus did commit to continue delivering OxygenOS to its global smartphones, despite the fact it will combine OxygenOS and ColorOS behind the scenes, so the ColorOS part also doesn’t fit. Truth be said, there were some reports saying that ColorOS will replace OxygenOS, as OPPO and OnePlus have merged, in a way, but OnePlus confirmed via a forum post that OxygenOS is here to stay.

This is also the first OnePlus 9T rumor that we’ve received. It would be smart to take this information with a grain of salt, though. Every single detail from this rumor seems fishy.

The phone will launch later this year, but probably in Q4

One thing is for sure, OnePlus is planning to bring the OnePlus 9T later this year. Chances are it won’t offer a 108MP main camera, nor will it ship with ColorOS, though.

Before the OnePlus 9T makes an appearance, OnePlus does need to introduce the OnePlus Nord 2. That device has been leaking for a while now, and it is expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
