This time around, we’re comparing the ASUS ZenFone 8 vs Vivo X60 Pro+. Both of these phones are flagship handsets. They are the best that ASUS and Vivo have to offer at this point, and both are quite interesting. Both of these devices are trying to differentiate in terms of their design, as they do offer something most other OEMs do not. They are quite interesting phones, without a doubt.
The two devices do differ in a lot of ways. They not only look different, but they do include different specifications, and significantly different software. Both are immensely powerful, though, and really good choices if you’re in the market for a new flagship handset. That being said, we’ll start this comparison by listing their specifications, and will then move to a number of other sections, including design, display, performance, and so on. Let’s kick off the ASUS ZenFone 8 vs Vivo X60 Pro+ comparison.

ASUS ZenFone 8 vs Vivo X60 Pro+: Design
These two phones do differ quite a bit in regards to the design. Both of them are trying to differentiate themselves from the competition. The ASUS ZenFone 8 is trying to differentiate by being more compact than its competitors, while the Vivo X60 Pro+ is attempting to be way less slippery, and look premium while doing that. The ASUS ZenFone 8 is made out of metal and glass, while the Vivo X60 Pro+ comes with a metal frame, and ‘Vegan Leather’ on its back. That faux leather material makes it way less slippery than other flagship phones its size.
The ZenFone 8 is slippery, but considering its size, that is not such a huge problem. The ZenFone 8 is considerably shorter and narrower than the Vivo X60 Pro+. The phone is also slightly thinner, and way lighter than Vivo’s offering. That being said, the Vivo X60 Pro+ is smaller than most other flagship handsets in the market. So, technically, neither of these two phones is gigantic. If you’re looking for a phone to use with one hand, though, the ASUS ZenFone 8 is the way to go.
The ZenFone 8 includes a display camera hole in the top-left corner, and it features a flat display. The Vivo X60 Pro+ has a centered display camera hole, and a curved display. Their rear camera modules are included in the same spot, even though they look quite different. The ZenFone 8’s design is very simplistic, some people would even say boring. Those of you who like minimalistic, undescriptive designs will love the ZenFone 8. The Vivo X60 Pro+ is more for those of you who are looking for something flashy. Both of these phones feel premium in the hand, though they do offer a different feeling, considerably different feeling.
ASUS ZenFone 8 vs Vivo X60 Pro+: Display
The ASUS ZenFone 8 features a 5.9-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) Super AMOLED display. That display offers a 120Hz refresh rate, and it gets quite bright at 1,100 nits peak brightness. The panel is protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus from Corning, and it supports HDR10+ content. This panel is flat, by the way, and as you can see, a display camera hole is part of the package, it sits in the top-left corner.
The Vivo X60 Pro+ features a 6.56-inch fullHD+ (2376 x 1080) Super AMOLED panel. That display also offers a 120Hz refresh rate, and it gets even brighter than the ZenFone 8’s panel, at 1,300 nits peak brightness. This display does support HDR10+ content, while we’re looking at a curved panel here. This display also has a display camera hole, though unlike the one on the ZenFone 8, this one is centered.
What are these two displays like in real-life, though, are they any good? Well, yes, they are. Both companies are using really nice fullHD+ panels, so not only do they offer vivid colors and great viewing angles, but they’re quite smooth as well thanks to the provided refresh rates. Do note that the Vivo X60 Pro+’s display does pull towards the blue shade a bit too much, but you can easily fix that in the display settings.
ASUS ZenFone 8 vs Vivo X60 Pro+: Performance
So, both of these phones are really powerful. They’re both fueled by the Snapdragon 888 SoC, which is Qualcomm’s most powerful processor at the moment. They’re also well-equipped in the RAM and storage departments, as both ASUS and Vivo decided to spare no expense. Android 11 comes pre-installed on both devices, though their Android skins are vastly different. The ZenFone 8 uses ZenUI, which tries to stick close to stock Android. Functouch 11.1 is an entirely different story, though, it differs quite a bit.
The point is, both phones do perform really well. There are no major complaints here, as they can breeze through everyday tasks, such as browsing, consuming multimedia, shooting images and videos, and so on. I did notice that the Vivo X60 Pro+ does have issues with push notifications, but only sometimes, and mostly with several Google apps. It only happened a couple of times when I’ve noticed that notifications were late, but it’s worth noting. Other than that, everything is running smoothly.
If you’re a gamer, you’ll be glad to know that both phones deliver in that regard as well. The ZenFone 8 even comes with some ROG Phone software on it, so it’s definitely gaming-oriented. Both devices can run pretty much every game from the Play Store, no matter how demanding it is. They both do a great job.
ASUS ZenFone 8 vs Vivo X60 Pro+: Battery
The ASUS ZenFone 8 offers a 4,000mAh battery, while the Vivo X60 Pro+ comes with a 4,200mAh unit. The ZenFone 8 does have a considerably smaller display, so keep that in mind. Neither of these two phones offers mind-blowing battery life, but it’ll be enough for most users, as the numbers are quite good. In our testing, the ZenFone 8 was able to cross the 6-hour screen-on-time mark, while the Vivo X60 Pro+ also made it a couple of times, but it was mostly under that line.
Do note that we did not really play all that many games, nor anything of the sort. These numbers from regular smartphone tasks that most of you will be doing. Browsing, YouTube, taking pictures and videos, sharing some files, and so on. The ZenFone 8 was consistently a bit better in regards to battery life, but not by a huge margin. Both of these phones can easily cross the 5-5.5-hour screen-on-time mark, and even go over the 6-hour screen-on-time mark, especially the ZenFone 8.
If, by any chance, you run out of battery ahead of time, you’ll be glad to know that both phones support fast charging. The ZenFone 8 offers 30W fast wired charging support, along with reverse wired charging support. The Vivo X60 Pro+, on the other hand, supports 55W fast wired charging. Neither phone supports wireless charging, which is a shame, but there you go.
ASUS ZenFone 8 vs Vivo X60 Pro+: Cameras
ASUS and Vivo weren’t exactly known for great camera performance in the past, but you’ll be glad to know things have changed. Both the ZenFone 8 and Vivo X60 Pro+ can compete in the camera department with the best out there. Their setups are quite different, but both can provide some great pictures and videos. During daylight, both phones capture nice-looking shots with a lot of detail, and great dynamic range.
The ZenFone 8 provides a huge improvement over the ZenFone 7, even though it has the same main camera sensor. Their ultra-wide cameras are also doing a really good job, and are not much worse than the main sensors. During the nighttime, well, both of them keep on doing a good job. Both companies managed to optimize their devices so that they allow plenty of light into the scene, and keep noise out of the way. The resulting images are detailed, and quite sharp as well, which may surprise some of you.
The Vivo X60 Pro+ has an advantage when it comes to zoomed-in shots. Not only does it come with a telephoto camera, but it offers a periscope camera as well. That camera shines during the day, as you can capture images of objects / scenes that are quite far away. Both phones do a really good job in the camera department, and even though there are better camera phones out there, these two devices are nothing to scoff at.
Audio
When it comes to audio, the ZenFone 8 takes the cake. Not only does it have a 3.5mm headphone jack, unlike the Vivo X60 Pro+, but it also offers stereo speakers. Those speakers are quite great. ASUS managed to include rather powerful speakers in such a small body, and that’s impressive on its own. Those speakers are quite punchy, while they manage to be sharp at the same time.
The Vivo X60 Pro+, unfortunately, has only one speaker, which is located at the bottom. That speaker is really good, to be quite honest, but it cannot compete with the stereo setup on the ZenFone 8. If you plug in a pair of headphones, or use Bluetooth to connect them, you’ll get really good sound out of both phones, presuming your headphones are good enough. The audio is well-balanced across the spectrum.
