According to a new report, Google is adding a new feature to the Gboard app. Notably, Gboard is gaining a new suggestion highlights feature.
As Android 12 is on the verge of its official debut, Google is updating its apps with the new ‘Material You’ design. Gboard is one such app that is receiving multiple new features in the recent past.
A few weeks ago, Gboard received the major ‘Material You’ redesign. It brought theming and menu option tweaks, with the buttons getting rounder to match the Android 12 design aesthetics.
The Settings menu is also tweaked, and it now displays the options in a new style. Users will be able to control emojis, stickers, and GIFs, all from the same place.
Google also added the ability to hide the recently copied text items. Now, items such as addresses and phone numbers can be hidden from popping up at the top of the keyboard.
Cut to now, the newly added Gboard suggestion highlights feature does what it says. Apparently, as you type, Gboard will boldly highlight the suggested words.
Gboard will suggest highlighted words in a box hued with Dynamic color on Android 12
The suggested word will not only be shown at the center of the strip at the top of the Gboard, but it will be hued with Dynamic color on Android 12.
If you are running an older version of Android OS, then it will match the accent color of the theme, that is applied to the return key of the keyboard.
Though this is not a major change, the Gboard suggestion highlights feature will bring to notice the suggested words, when Google is confident about your mistake and its result.
According to 9to5Google, this feature is unnecessary as Gboard will anyhow pick up the highlighted word in the middle, if a user keeps on typing without manually choosing from the other two choices.
This new Gboard suggestion highlights feature was previously rolling out for the beta users for some time. However, it is now widely available for all users via the stable channel.
You can download the new version of the Gboard app from the Google Play Store and check out the new features that it has to offer. Do note that this feature is only live for Android users.
As of now, it is not available for iOS users, and currently, there ain’t any information regarding when it will go live for them.
