HTC’s Q2 Financial Results Are In, And They’re Not Good

HTC was once one of the biggest smartphone OEMs in the world, but the company has been struggling for quite some time now. HTC has been having issues keeping their profits up for a couple of years now, and they had to cut costs last year in order to get back on the right track. The company has announced quite a few premium smartphones this year, and they’re hoping that that will help them increase their profits. We’ll talk more about that in a minute, let’s take a look at HTC’s Q2 2015 financial results first, shall we.

This Taiwan-based smartphone OEM has posted their financial results for the second quarter of this year. The company has posted revenues of NT$33.01 billion ($1.076 billion) for the second quarter of this year, and they actually managed to hit the low-end target of the company’s revised guidance. HTC has revised their financial goals for Q2 2015, and have set a revenue goal of NT$33-36 billion. That being said, pre-tax losses totaled NT$7.92 billion, and after-tax losses came around to NT$8.03. As a comparison, HTC managed to earn NT$360 million in Q1 this year. HTC’s net losses per share hit NT$9.70, which the company actually expected.

As previously mentioned, HTC has announced a number of high-end devices this year, starting with the company’s new flagship, the One M9 which was launched back in March. HTC has also launched the One M9+, One E9+, Butterfly (2015) and One ME handsets. That being said, the company is reportedly working on HTC ‘Aero’ device which will sport some new and innovative camera technology and should be HTC’s savior in a way. The company really needs to introduce something truly great, improve their marketing and carefully choose their launch markets if they want to succeed. It’s still not too late for HTC, but significant changes are needed, obviously.

The HTC ‘Aero’ is expected to launch in November this year, which means we’ll probably see quite a few leaks before the device actually hits the market. Either way, we’ll let you know as soon as additional info surfaces, let’s see if HTC will be able to find a way out of all this and get back to the right path.
