Xiaomi has been a really busy company lately. This China-based smartphone OEM has released a bunch of devices this year already, and they’re expected to release all sorts of tech goodies by the end of the year. The company has unveiled a special version of their Mi Note handset a couple of days ago, and are also rumored to do the same for their Mi Pad tablet soon. Speaking of Mi Pad, Xiaomi is expected to release a refreshed 2015 version of that device soon. On top of all of that, the company’s CEO, Lei Jun, has teased the release of the next-gen Mi TV quite recently.

The company’s CEO has teased something TV-related for March 19th, which is today. Everyone thought that the company will unveil their next-gen Mi TV, but it turns out that’s not the case. As it’s often the case with Chinese OEMs, they tend to tease the date when they will reveal the date of the actual announcement. That sounds kind of odd, but there you have it. Anyhow, Xiaomi’s CEO has definitely revealed the release date today though. If you take a look at the image above this article, you’ll notice that it clearly says March 24th and that Mi TV is mentioned in the lower part of the image. Lei Jun posted this image on his official Weibo (Chinese social network) account.

This new version of Xiaomi’s TV will replace the last year’s model which was launch back in May. The last year’s model featured a 49-inch 4K display with the resolution of 3840 x 2160. It was powered by MediaTek’s quad-core processor along with 2GB of RAM, and Xiaomi’s MIUI TV software was pre-installed on it. That TV also shipped with 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). We didn’t see any leaks regarding this new Mi TV, but it’s logical to assume that Xiaomi will improve upon last year’s offering. They’ll quite probably bump up the hardware and tweak the looks a bit, and the cost will quite probably remain the same, or at least close to last year’s model. Speaking of which, the last year’s model was priced at 3,999 Yuan ($642) at launch.
