Alright so, Samsung is usually rather fast when it comes to updating their phones to Google’s latest build of Android, so we expect the same thing to happen in the case of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Samsung already revealed its Lollipop plans and of course both Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4 will get the update. We’ve already seen a leaked build of Android 5.0 Lollipop running on the Samsung Galaxy S5 and now that very same source, SamMobile, is bringing us yet another treat. SamMobile managed to get their hands on an early Lollipop build for the Galaxy S4, flashed it on the device and did a little preview for us all. Let’s see what’s what.
First of all, keep in mind that this is a rather early build of the software, so the performance isn’t exactly perfect. That being said, folks at SamMobile say that the software runs really well on the Galaxy S4 and that they’re actually surprised with its performance considering this isn’t nowhere near finished software. This is the same TouchWiz UI we’ve seen running on the Galaxy S5, but this build is, of course, optimized for the S4. Samsung has ported the Galaxy S5’s TouchWiz launcher together with My Magazines and Popping Colours lockscreen effect to the Galaxy S4. The company has also re-designed the look of its very own apps, phone, messaging, contacts, calculator, clock… they all look different now along the lines of Google’s new design language. This firmware is based on an early Lollipop code LRX02E, instead of the final LRM21M code which Google released three days ago. This build actually doesn’t even have the easter egg in the firmware, not that it matters, but… it’s worth mentioning I guess. SamMobile also points out that memory management seems better optimized now and that TouchWiz is more responsive than it was before.
It seems like Samsung is doing great progress thus far, the company has always been relatively fast when it comes to updating their devices, at least when their flagship handsets are concerned. There are also a ton of images down below that video so that you can see how the UI looks throughout.
