Rovio Launches Angry Birds Transformers Onto The Play Store

AH Angry Birds Transformers-1

Rovio is no stranger to releasing some Angry Birds games themed with big blockbuster movie studios. There has already been Angry Birds Rio, and Angry Birds Star Wars 1 and 2. Now the most recent Angry Birds title to launch in partnership with a major motion picture is Angry Birds Transformers. We had heard about this a couple months back and today was the day for launch. This is little bit different than your standard Angry Birds game, as you’re not launching birds from a slingshot at the pigs as you attempt to three star every level. Ok, the three star element is still here, but there’s no bird launching.

Angry Birds Transformers is more of a like a mix between the physics elements of the original Angry Birds with a runner. Not an endless runner, because there are ends to every stage. Furthermore, there are stages, which endless runners don’t have. As you run through each stage your goal as the Optimus Prime Bird/Bot will be to take out the pig bots, which you can do by destroying the areas where the pigs are sitting. This is the part that is similar to the regular Angry Birds titles. You destroy the pigs and parts of the environment to collect a certain amount of points, and making sure to get every pig with as high of a score as possible will get you closer to three staring the levels. The game also has a really cool Transformers cinematic the first time you open it up. Seriously, watch the whole thing, it’s worth it.

There is a roster of heroes and villains to unlock and collect, all with have their own special unique abilities according to Rovio. I am one stage into the game so I can’t comment as to how cool any of them are or what they look like, but presumably they’re awesome. There’s also upgrades. You can outfit your bird and pig bots with stronger weapons, and of course there’s vehicles. Oh yes, there are vehicles. It wouldn’t be Transformers without some vehicles somewhere. If you feel like taking the game further than just playing the game on your device, Rovio has implemented the use of telepods that you can scan which will give you in game content. Pretty cool right? Angry Birds Transformers is free, and you can grab the download from the source link below. Give it a try before you knock it, it’s more than meets the eye.
