Charge up your proton packs! Time to bust some ghosts with a fantastic new generation of Ghostbusters! 👻 In an age of reboots and remakes, “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” introduces something new and exciting to movie audiences.
The story follows single mom Callie as she picks up her life and 2 children and move to the country after inheriting rural farmhouse in Summerville, Okla from her deceased father. However, this family soon discovers their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the legacy left behind for them.
In speaking about the theme of the movie and how it differs from the others, director Jason Reitman explains:
“I wanted to make a movie that was as much for my father as it was for my daughter. I wanted to tell a generational story about a single mom with two kids, two kids who don’t know their identity and find out that they are actually quite special. Ghostbusters has always been a film about outsiders – outsiders who find heroic moments through the act of ghostbusting.
I want the audience to feel while they’re watching Ghostbusters like they’re being handed back Ecto-1, the proton packs, the music, the props, the characters. Piece by piece, from start to finish of the movie, you’re watching this mystery and we are kind of handing you back all your favorite elements of this franchise.”
