Samsung Galaxy S20 & More Receive June Security Update In The US

Samsung seems to be continuing its efforts in pushing the June 2021 security update for its devices. Notably, a bunch of devices including the Galaxy S10, S20, S21, Note 10 Series, and others are receiving the June security update in the US.

To be specific carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, along with unlocked variants are receiving the security update. Interestingly, Galaxy A series devices which include A10e, A50, and A52 are receiving the update.

The unlocked variants of the Galaxy S20 series, S21 series, Note 10 series, Note 20/20 Ultra, Galaxy Z series are also grabbing the June security update.

Don’t expect new features out of this security update. It is purely incremental in nature and simply bumps the security patch level of the phones to June 2021.

However, it is highly recommended that you install the latest security updates on the devices that it is arriving on. Because security updates include security fixes, bug fixes and improve system stability to give optimal overall performance.

So, if you are on any of the mentioned carriers and own the mentioned devices, then you can download the update right away. Sadly, the side of the updates is not known. It is advised to download them on a stable Wi-Fi connection.

Unlocked Galaxy S21 devices are receiving their 3rd June security update

As noted by Android Police (via Sammobile), the unlocked variants of the Samsung Galaxy S21 devices are receiving their 3rd June 2021 security update.

Several users reported issues of overheating caused due to the previous June update. Luckily, Samsung has addressed the issue and is packing fixes to resolve this issue on the Samsung Galaxy S21.

Along with bug fixes for overheating, the update also brings the ability to scan and recognize QR codes in the images saved in the Gallery of your phone.

The update for the unlocked Galaxy S20 series is rolling out currently in markets such as South Korea, Germany, and Thailand. A wider rollout is expected to begin soon.

As for the other unlocked and carries devices, the updates are already out in full throttle. If it is live for your phone, then you would have already received the notification.

If not, then you can always manually check for it. To do that, you need to head over to the Settings » Software update and tap on Download and install. This will begin downloading the latest June 2021 security update on your device. The updates could roll out in more markets over the next few days for these devices as well.
