The very first tablet from OnePlus seems to be on the way under the ‘OnePlus Pad’ name. That name has been trademarked by the company, as it has been spotted on EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) website.
This listing doesn’t really reveal all that much, as expected. It’s only a name at this point, nothing else. Still, that name is quite revealing, and it definitely suggests we’re looking at a tablet.
OnePlus tablet seems to be on the way as ‘OnePlus Pad’ name gets certified
It indicates that OnePlus is developing such a product, and considering a name already got certified, we can expect it sooner rather than later. This will represent a brand new product category for OnePlus.
OnePlus started off by releasing smartphones, but released various other products over the year. The company announced a smartwatch, earphones, backpacks, and more.
It seems like a tablet is the next step for the company. At this point, we don’t know if it’ll be a high-end product, or an affordable one. We don’t know almost anything about the device.
Even when it comes to its launch timeframe, we can only speculate. The most probable timeframe is either at the end of this year, or next year when the OnePlus 10 appears. So, chances are it will launch with the OnePlus 9T or OnePlus 10. That would, at least, be our guess.
The company will likely announce this tablet alongside one of its flagship smartphones
It’s not that likely OnePlus will host a separate event to launch its first tablet. The company may surprise us, though. The device will ship with Android out of the box, of course, while OnePlus’ OxygenOS will come pre-installed. It will come with either Android 11 or 12, depending on when it launches.
It will sure be interesting to see OnePlus’ take on a tablet. Many companies announced their tablets thus far, but not many of them do it still. We haven’t seen all that many compelling Android tablets in the last couple of years. Samsung is leading the charge, pretty much, while Huawei and Xiaomi tend to contribute from time to time.
