Let’s face it, sometimes there are search items that you don’t want saved to your history. Fortunately for you, Google has a solution to this. A new Search feature just rolled out that will let you instantly delete the last 15 minutes of your search history. This rollout was spotted by Droid-Life.
The company revealed this new search feature a while back
Anyone who saw Google I/O this year should know about this new Search feature. It was revealed back then, but it took the company a few months to properly get it rolled out. Right now, it’s still in the process of rolling out as it’s only out for iOS devices at the moment.
While in the Google Search app, you can go to your settings. From there, you will see the history tab. Immediately under it, you will see the “Delete last 15 mins” button. From there, it’s simple. It’s not hard to see why this is a neat feature.
Why this feature is useful
You can make the joke about wiping out inappropriate searches, but there are other applications. The ads that get blasted at you are based on your recent searches. These pop up all over your feed and websites. If you go off the beaten path with your searches, you will be shown ads that aren’t in line with what you look up.
Also, if you look up something sensitive that you don’t want people to know about, those can be reflected in your ads. Say, you have a certain embarrassing medical condition that you don’t want others to know about. You wouldn’t want ads pertaining to that condition posted all over your browser.
We don’t know when to expect this feature to arrive on Android devices, so you may want to hold off on any questionable searches until then.
Google is rolling out some changes to Google search for desktops
Google is getting ready for the launch of the Pixel 6, rolling out new Google Drive app features, and gathering feedback about the latest Android 12 beta. Regardless of these things it’s doing for mobile, it still makes time for its browser.
Google has been working on rolling out dark mode for its search website. There will be an icon that’s to the left of your profile picture that will toggle the dark mode. This will change the theme for the entire background to a dark gray color with the text going white.
It will also be moving the settings to the top of the browser. At the moment, it’s on the bottom. Placing them at the top will make them more accessible to people who may want to change them, but don’t know where to find them. Read more about these changes here.
