We all know that Samsung‘s upcoming flagship killer, the Galaxy S21 FE, has been delayed due to the ongoing chip shortage. Initially expected to arrive alongside several other Galaxy devices sometime in August, the device is now unlikely to see the light of day until October. There were also reports of it having a limited launch. However, a newer report suggests that may not be the case.
According to a Japanese news agency, the Galaxy S21 FE will launch in the country as part of NTT DoCoMo’s fall lineup. The report doesn’t reveal any other information about the device’s availability time frame or estimated pricing (via). However, if the rumor is accurate, then there’s a possibility of the phone coming to more markets.
A wider Galaxy S21 FE launch but with limited quantity?
Multiple reports over the past month or so have suggested that the Galaxy S21 FE will have a limited launch. Samsung is said to be considering releasing the phone in the US and Europe only. The ongoing global semiconductor chip shortage is blamed for this. The Korean firm has reportedly failed to secure enough Snapdragon 888 chips from Qualcomm, or perhaps the Exynos 2100 processors from its semiconductor division. It is now in no position to launch the upcoming affordable flagship globally, the reports suggested.
However, with the device seemingly coming to Japan, it could be possible for Samsung to bring it to other markets as well. Of course, there’s no official confirmation on any of this as yet. Perhaps the S21 FE will be available in most major markets but in a limited quantity, only time will tell.
After the success of the Galaxy S20 FE, Samsung has high hopes for the ‘Fan Edition’ Galaxy S21. There already has been a lot of interest around this phone. The device is also shaping up to be fitting to the billing. Despite being an affordable proposition, we are expecting flagship-grade specs. These include a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 888/Exynos 2100 chipset, a decent amount of RAM and internal storage, powerful cameras, a 120Hz Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Other notable specs include a 4,500mAh battery with 45W fast charging, NFC support, IP68 rating, and stereo speakers. You can check out our Galaxy S21 FE Preview for more information. In the meantime, expect to hear more about this phone in the coming weeks as leaks continue to come.
