The Witcher: Monster Slayer is the latest upcoming game from CD Projekt Red. It’s an augmented reality game for mobile devices launching in the near future, in which you do exactly as the title of the game says. Kill monsters. You won’t necessarily get to play as Geralt, but you do get to become a Witcher in an all-new way.
You should be able to use familiar skills and abilities just like in the games. Including weaving magic signs to cast spells, and take down enemies with swords and other weapons. Up until now CD Projekt hadn’t announced an official release date for The Witcher: Monster Slayer, but now there’s an actual arrival time. And it lands simultaneously for Android and iOS devices.
The Witcher: Monster Slayer lands on Android devices July 21
You won’t have to wait much longer to give this game a go, as it arrives for both Android and iOS devices on July 21. So just a few more weeks. As for the game content, it’s an augmented reality game so the experience is probably at least somewhat like you may expect.
The game will use AR technology layered on top of a map based on your location. And while players of more than a few AR games have seen this same song and dance before, this game has some pretty cool and unique features that, at the very least, set it apart from the competition.
For example, you’ll need to track down your targets before you can slay them. And to do that you’ll be able to use things like real-time weather conditions, your Witcher senses and more.
Players get pre-registration rewards
You know the drill with most mobile games. If you pre-register then you can score a free gift or two from CD Projekt. In this case, you’ll a special sword that gives you a 10% boost to your experience gains with every single monster kill. Though this only seems to be for Android players.
No doubt CD Projekt probably has something planned for iOS players too however, so keep your eyes peeled for it if that’s where you plan to check the game out. The Witcher: Monster Slayer is a free-to-play game, so it won’t cost you anything to install or play it. But there are likely to be some micro transactions.
