Razer's Blade 14 Gaming Laptop Makes A Return, Powered By AMD

The Razer Blade 14 gaming laptop is making a triumphant return this week, complete with a powerful AMD processor and NVIDIA’s latest GPUs. Razer announced the news during its E3 2021 keynote.

For Razer, this is big for at least a couple of reasons. Razer has stuck with the same three form factors for the last few years. Its now 13.4-inch (originally 12.5-inch) Blade Stealth, the 15-inch Razer Blade 15 which comes in Base and Advanced models, and then the Razer Blade Pro which has a 17-inch display.

Again this isn’t Razer’s first gaming laptop at this size. But it has been a while since the company offered one with a 14-inch display. And for those that personally feel the Blade 15 is too big yet the Blade Stealth is both not powerful enough and too small, the Blade 14 will be the sweet spot.

At this point Razer’s Blade gaming laptops are well-known globally and are often hailed as the best gaming laptops on the market. Even going back as far as its first-ever Blade.

But this particular laptop is a first for Razer. The first Blade laptop with an AMD processor inside. And not just any AMD processor, but the 8-core AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor. Razer says this should help users “quickly dispatch dense workloads.” But the even better trait will be its capability to help reduce the amount of latency users have while playing games.

In addition to the AMD processor, the new Blade 14 also features NVIDIA’s latest GPUs. You’ll be able to configure the laptop with numerous options. Including getting up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU. There will also be options for displays with resolution up to 4K and up to a 165Hz refresh rate.

The AMD processor provides more than just efficient workload computational power and lower latency for games. It also provides lower power consumption. It’s rated at up to 12 hours of battery life. However, Razer isn’t specific on whether this is while gaming, just during general use, or a mix.

If you have the RTX 3080 model and you’re doing nothing but gaming, 12 hours seems like a little bit of a stretch. Still, this might provide the best battery life of any of Razer’s current laptops. Which is a big plus no matter how you look at it.

In addition to the new laptop, Razer is also introducing a new portable charging device. The new Razer USB-C GaN (Gallium Nitride) Charger. While this isn’t a battery pack, it’s an extremely small charger that can be used to power the Blade 14 when it needs a little juice.

On top of that it has four ports, so you can charge up to four devices at the same time. Two of those ports are USB-C while the other two are USB-A. The Razer USB-C GaN charger also supports up to 130W power delivery and it’s small enough to fit in your pocket.

Both the Razer Blade 14 and the Razer USB-C GaN Charger are available starting today. The Razer Blade 14 will start at $1,799 and go up from there depending on the configuration. The GaN charger will retail for $179.99.
