So many of you have been asking us how to choose the best camera for travel and which model are we currently using? So if you are looking for a versatile, all-rounder camera for a holiday or travel jaunt without compromising on the image quality, we would highly recommend the Samsung NX 500.
NX500 comes with a 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 power zoom kit lens and is available in three colours: black, white or brown.
Samsung has incorporated most of the high-end components from the NX1 into the NX500’s compact body. It’s a camera that, at this size, pretty much has it all. The Samsung NX 500 takes a 28.2-megapixel backside-illuminated APS-C CMOS sensor and pairs it with the DRIMeVs Image Signal Processor to creative high resolution images with low noise at sensitivities up to ISO 51200. This combination also enables the recording of 4K video at up to 24 fps or UHD at up to 30 fps with HEVC (H.265) compression for saving space without sacrificing quality.
For example, some of our night photography looks really great. We push the ISO higher but the images remain sharp.
Ergonomics-wise, the NX500 can be handled with one hand and I love the grip feeling.
The camera also boasts Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for easier sharing and photo uploading. This is why we kept updating our #kbcgineurope trip live!
Did I mention how much I love to selfie with the Samsung NX 500? Just flip the display upward 180 degrees to see the picture while we take a photo of ourselves. Remember to enable the Auto Self Shot option, flipping the display upwards activates Auto Self Shot mode. After 2 seconds, the camera automatically releases the shutter, resulting in the perfect selfie!
Talking about perfect selfie, the Face Retouch function makes us look good in every single pictures!
It works really well in low light environment too!
Night selfies look pretty decent too!
All functionality is accessible via the touch screen. A related option is that in Touch AF mode (where you touch the screen to select the subject), you can separate focus and exposure, similar to Samsung’s smartphone camera apps.
It is especially good for food photos…

The camera also features a fast 1/6000s shutter speed that can freeze and capture fast moving subjects with clarity.

How do we get a couple shot if there’s only the two of us? Just easily download the Samsung camera app to get access to all the pictures inside the memory card from your smartphone.
Apart from that, we use the remote view finder function inside the app. Just set your tripod far away, then press the shutter button from your phone app to get the perfect couple shot. It looks as though some professional photographers took it for us. In fact, it’s our Samsung NX500.
I really like how easy and user friendly is the Samsung NX 500. It has become the default choice of camera for us. Enjoy some of the beautiful shots taken with this camera – most of the photos are taken with the simple functions in the camera.
As you can see, regardless of great or shitty (gloomy weather), our pictures always turned out to be nice and clear.
