Vivo XPlay 5 renders leak_1

Vivo is one of many China-based smartphone manufacturers, though this company is planning to release something really interesting soon. Vivo has introduced a couple of interesting products last year, but their XPlay 5 smartphone will definitely intrigue some people. The company has already confirmed that the XPlay 5 will be introduced on March 1st, and they’ve also shared some of its specifications already. This phablet will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC, and believe it or not, it will sport 6GB of RAM. This is official information by the way, not a leak, just to be clear on that.

We’ve also seen some leaked images of the Vivo XPlay recently, and it seems like its display will be curved on the sides, similar to what we’ve seen on Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge and S7 Edge handsets. That being said, the specs of this phablet have surfaced both on GFXBench and Geekbench, but it seems like this is a lower-end variant of Vivo’s upcoming phablet. The variant of the device that has been benchmarked actually sports 4GB of RAM, and will be fueled by the Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core SoC it seems. This handset might even be smaller than the regular XPlay 5, as it sports a 5.4-inch display according to GFXBench, though it’s possible this will end up being a 5.5-inch panel. The 16-megapixel shooter has been listed as far as the rear-facing camera goes, and an 8-megapixel snapper will be available up front. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on this smartphone, while you’ll find Vivo’s custom UI available on top of Google’s OS. You’ll be able to expand this phone’s internal storage up to 128GB via a microSD card.

The listed handset carries the PD1522A model number, and it managed to score 1,587 points in the single-core, and 4,667 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench. So judging by some certification filings from China, and these benchmark listings, Vivo will introduce several Vivo XPlay 5 variants. These lower-end phone will ship with 4GB of RAM and will be fueled by the Snapdragon 65X processors, while the highest-end model will pack in 6GB of RAM and will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 processor. That’s pretty much it, the device will be unveiled tomorrow, stay tuned.
