It’s almost as if Samsung listens to the DL Show. After complaining about Samsung’s lack of communication when it comes to the status of updates for their phones, the Korean electronics giant pushed out a press release this morning to announce that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will begin to receive the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow on February 15.
What does that mean for your phone, you are probably wondering? Samsung says that “separate announcements on details of OS updates schedule for each market according to market situation and carriers’ requirements.” In other words, we could see unlocked international variants receive the update starting February 15, but carrier models could be a while. Samsung will announce more specific times as updates are ready.
In terms of new features, the only specific items that Samsung is sharing relate to the S6 Edge’s display. The update will introduce a handful of enhancements to the Edge display We saw mentions of the new functionality on a Samsung’ developer page a few weeks back, but weren’t sure if these would arrive before the S7 Edge or not.
