Kyocera DuraForce XD Coming To AT&T

One of the notable trends which has been developing of late is that of a more durable smartphone. This is not too surprising when you consider that most of the major flagship devices seem to come sporting a “premium” design and one which is more often than not, more susceptible to damage than you might expect or want. As such, as devices become more premium, a gap in the market has opened up for those looking for more rugged and durable devices. Kyocera is one of the companies who seem to be currently filling that gap with their line of smartphones which are designed to be able to take a greater degree of usage than others. In fact, back in November Kyocera launched their latest durable device which came with the aptly named DuraForce tag. The Kyocera DuraForce was a 4.5-inch smartphone which came with a 720p display. This was announced back in November as on its way to AT&T and now it seems the two companies are gearing up to release the bigger and newer version of the DuraForce.

AT&T has today announced that they will be stocking the Kyocera DuraForce XD. In terms of the announcement, few details were provided on the actual specs of the device, although, the announcement does detail that the DuraForce will come sporting a 5.7-inch HD display. Which not only places it firmly as a phablet device, but also does indicate that this will be the bigger version of the DuraForce smartphone. The announcement also does detail that the battery will be bigger too as the device is said to come sporting a 3,700 mAh capacity rated battery. Other than this, the details are limited with the exception that the DuraForce XD will adopt the same highly durable stance by making use of “military-grade durability” which will include resistance to dust, water and drops.

AT&T did not provide any indication of what price-point the Kyocera DuraForce XD will come in at or whether it will be an AT&T exclusive device, although, the announcement does detail that AT&T will be the first carrier to sell the Kyocera DuraForce XD.
