Xperia Z5 heading to Canada; US launch looks less certain

Good news for Canadian Xperia fans, Sony Mobile confirmed earlier in the week that both the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium will be landing in the region. This follows news at the end of July, where Sony Canada confirmed that they would not be making the Xperia Z3+ nor the Xperia Z4 Tablet available in the country. It’s a shame that the Xperia Z5 Compact has been missed off the list, but hopefully it will land off-contract at some point.

The misery for US Xperia fans continue though. There has been no word of any US carriers picking up the Xperia Z5 series so far, but this could still change at some point. T-Mobile said to Cnet that they had no plans to carry the Xperia Z5 range and Verizon made no comment about future devices, let alone confirm what is going on with the Xperia Z4v. The time taken to get the Verizon Xperia Z4v onto retail shelves could put its launch plans in jeopardy given the Xperia Z5 reveal. Whatever happens, we’ll keep you posted.
