Meizu is one of the most interesting Chinese smartphone OEMs at the moment. This company’s growth-rate is off the charts, and they keep on relesaing really compelling, and yet affordable devices. Meizu has recently announced the M2 Note mid-ranger, and their new MX5 flagship. Both of those devices are quite affordable considering what they have to offer, not to mention that they’re well put together. That being said, we’ve seen rather odd teasers released by this company recently, and the most interesting one arrived yesterday when the company seemingly teased an upcoming partnership with Nokia.
Today’s date was actually mentioned on the aforementioned teaser, and for a reason. Meizu’s invitations for their upcoming event started arriving today, and interestingly enough, the Nokia 1110 is the invitation, believe it or not. if you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll notice quite a few images showing off Meizu’s invitation, and inside of the box itself you’ll see the old Nokia 1110 cellphone. Does this mean Nokia and Meizu are partnering up as initially thought? Well, no, at least this invite has nothing to do with it. Meizu is inviting the press to attend their event on July 29th, when the company plans to announce the Meizu M2 handset which has been rumored for quite some time now. The Nokia 1110’s presence here seems to be only symbolic, this is not the first time Meizu has done something like this. This Chinese smartphone OEM has actually sent out iPhone 5C’s back covers as invites to their M1 Note launch event last year. The Nokia 1110 is supposed to symbolize the classic quality / potential of the M2 and its affordable price, at least it seems that way. So, despite the fact Meizu – Nokia partnership is possible in the future, this invite and recent teasers have nothing to do with that.
The upcoming Meizu M2 is expected to sport a 5-inch display along with 2GB of RAM and 8 or 16GB of internal storage. MediaTek’s MT6753 64-bit octa-core processor will fuel this phone, and a 13-megapixel snapper will most probably be available on the back of this device. You can expect Android Lollipop to come pre-installed here with Meizu’s Flyme UI on top of it. Take this info with a grain of salt though, we’re still not sure if these are the final specs the M2 will sport, but if something new pops up, we’ll make sure to let you know.
