We’ve been hearing about the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and the Galaxy Note 5 for some time, and while the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is mostly just a larger version of the original, the Galaxy Note 5 looks set to be a departure from the Galaxy Note design from the past. For some time now, an earlier than usual launch for the Galaxy Note 5 has been rumored and a launch event as early as August 12th has been pegged for the launch of both of these new devices from Samsung. If there’s one indicator that shows a device is sure to hit shelves soon, it’s the FCC, and if these latest additions are true, it looks like the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus have just passed through the FCC.
As GforGames has noted, two model numbers have appeared in the FCC destined for Verizon and AT&T. The SM-N920A appears to the Galaxy Note 5 for AT&T with support for LTE bands 2, 4 and 17, while the SM-G928A supports the same bands and appears to be the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus for AT&T. As for Verizon, the model numbers are predictably very similar with a ‘v’ placed instead of the ‘a’ for AT&T. The SM-N920V supports LTE bands 2,4 and 13 on Verizon, as does the SM-G928V. For a quick reference, the Galaxy Note 4 on AT&T and Verizon carries model numbers of SM-N910A and SM-N910V, respectively while the Galaxy S6 Edge is SM-G925A and SM-G925V, respectively. So, the model numbers are extremely close as we’d expect for follow-up devices like these.
As for the specs of these two devices passing through the FCC, it doesn’t look much information is available, as Samsung seem to have filed for confidentiality regarding some aspects of the device. Rumors so far have pointed to a 5.5-inch Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, and a Galaxy Note 5 with a Quad HD, 5.7-inch display with 4GB of RAM. The fact that these two have passed through the FCC during July does suggest that a launch is imminent, but there’s obviously a possibility that Samsung is just exploring options at this point. Either way, things are in motion and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus finally looks like a real device, along with the Galaxy Note 5, of course.
