In a comment on Friday’s post, viipottaja mentions that Meizu has been sending out invites to their own event. Also around the the date as Nokia’s event on July 29th (especially due to time differences).
Actually, going on that time difference thing, viipottaja also says:
Meizu’s event is on 29 July 2.30pm China time, which is July 28 11.30pm LA time. The plot thickens.
Furthermore, not only are the events seemingly at exactly the same time, but there’s quite a solid Nokia connection as Meizu sent out invites with an actual Nokia 1110 inside.
Nokia recently confirmed in a press release that there are plans to come back to mobile, but we won’t see that until end of 2016. So what could this mean? Nokia licensing imaging technologies to Meizu? Something else that leverages the Nokia brand name and circumventing the Microsoft agreement in some way?
