Consumer Reports Ranks the LG G4 ahead of Competitors

Consumer Reports seems to be pretty impressed with the LG G4, giving it a 78 out of 100, while its main competitors the Samsung Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6 were ranked 5th overall. The LG G4 has come out to much fanfare this year, being announced in late April and being available worldwide in May and June. LG announced the LG G4 with removable leather backs as well as plastic backs. They’ve also been touting the camera, as they should. It’s one of the best cameras on a smartphone, if not the best. We did take it on a shootout against the Galaxy S6, and both were neck and neck, it was pretty tough to choose a winner. And that’s a great thing actually, because the best camera is the one that’s in your pocket.

LG also chose to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor in the LG G4 over the Snapdragon 810. Which made it a bit slower than some of the other smartphones out there, namely the Galaxy S6, but it didn’t overheat like their own G Flex 2 or the HTC One M9, both of which use the Snapdragon 810. LG also choose to take something out of Samsung’s marketing, and that was to use a removable battery and microSD card slot. Which Samsung decided to get rid of this year, surprisingly.

While the LG G4 came in second place this year, according to Consumer Reports, who came in first? Well surprisingly, it was the Galaxy S5. Yes, the Galaxy S5 got higher marks than the Galaxy S6 and the LG G4. As well as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, surprisingly. Which is why we say we can’t always trust what Consumer Reports says, but it’s still a great endorsement for the LG camp, and definitely something that they deserved. The LG G4 is available now at most carriers and retail stores around the world. Here in the US, you can pick up the black leather or the gray metallic backed LG G4 at AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. While T-Mobile has the exclusive on the brown leather back, but also offer the gray metallic back as well.
