Make Sure your Device is Charging Properly with new App Ampere

Ampere-AH-1

We’ve probably all run into this problem. Our device isn’t charging as fast as we want it too. Does it ever really charge as fast as you want it too? Sometimes it’s charging much slower than it should be, and that’s where Ampere comes in. Ampere will show you how the device is charging. The app will show you all kinds of information for your device. Including whether it’s plugged in, how its plugged in (AC, car charger, USB, etc), also the level and health of the battery. The health is always important, as batteries do die eventually. However most are after about 1000 charges.

Some other useful information that Ampere shows you is the voltage, as well as the temperature of your device. You don’t want your device to get too hot when charging it, as that will cause more damage than good to your smartphone. The best part is that it shows you the speed of which it’s charging. Most will be around 200-240mA’s.

As the Play Store description tells us, the app is only meant to show you what charging method works best for you and your device. Whether that be a Quick Charge 2.0 compliant charger, a regular USB charger, a car charger or something else. It’s not meant to be 100% accurate, but pretty close. The app’s developer also says that Ampere measures the charging/discharging current of the battery. So that if your phone is not connected, you will see the discharging current, which will show as negative instead of positive.

It’s a pretty neat app that’s available on the Play Store for Android 4.0.3 and up. There are some in-app purchases, which are about a buck each. So it won’t break the bank. While its not a completely necessary app to charge up your device, it does help you figure out the best way to charge your device. You can grab it from the Play Store (link in the sources below). It does work with most devices. For the list of devices that I have, there were only a handful that it wasn’t compatible with. That included the HTC One M8, LG G2, G3 and the Galaxy S4.
