One of the big attraction points to CyanogenMod is the vast number of devices it caters for. Unlike the commercial variant, Cyanogen OS, CyanogenMod is widely available to a whole host of devices and some you might not ever expect. This is partly due to the wide community base CyanogenMod has attracted over the years. Well, every now and again, you will get to see CyanogenMod running on some very unusual devices and today is one of those days.

Joel16 over on XDA has made a port of CyanogenMod for the PSP (PlayStation Portable). Now, as you would expect with any ROM running on a portable gaming unit, the functionality is a little limited compared to what would be expected on a smartphone. That said, the app tray is there, settings are in play and applicable. Not to mention the browser and file manager all seems to be working fine too. It is worth pointing out that this is a not an android-based solution and will not allow you to run android apps on the device. Instead, it is merely designed to be a way to utilize what the PSP can do.

Now, those of you who are into your PSP ports will know that this is not exactly a new thing. Joel16 unleashed his port all the way back in June of last year. That said, in the last couple of days, it had been completely overhauled and upgraded to a more Android 5.0 (Lollipop) based version. As such, Material Design is much more in play as well as a few other Lollipop themed additions. You can check out the video below to see the ROM running and the type of content you can expect. Otherwise, if you still do use a PSP for your gaming and feel like giving CyanogenPSP with a Lollipop flavor a try, then follow the link to head over to Joel16’s XDA listing where you can grab the download and install instructions. If you do give it a try then make sure to let us know how you get on and what you think.
