Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January was filled with great tech. We’ve seen a lot of tech gadgets and what not, and many manufacturers have unveiled their new smartphone offerings. Asus was one of them, the Taiwan-based company has unveiled their new ZenFone 2 line of devices. The company has surprised many people at the show, because of the way they decided to price these devices. The most powerful device in this line sports 4GB of RAM, and the 32GB variant of that device is priced under $300 in Taiwan, which is commendable. Either way, the ZenFone 2 devices are currently available in Taiwan, and the company has also announced their availability in China today.
If you live outside of Asia, chances are you can’t purchase this device officially, well, not yet at least. Luckily for those of you who are interested in purchasing one, a well-known reseller Spemall has listed two ZenFone 2 variants for sale. Spemall ships pretty much everywhere, so that shouldn’t be a problem. Anyhow, this reseller is offering the 2GB and 4GB variants of the ZenFone 2 handset in 5 color options: Black, White, Red, Grey, Gold. The 2GB variant of the device is priced at $459.90, while the top 4GB model costs $599.90. These prices are significantly higher than the ones in Asia, both devices cost twice as much compared to the prices in Asia. If you are, however, eager to purchase one of the two, this is one of the very few choices at the moment.
The Asus ZenFone 2 features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB or 4GB of RAM (depending on the version you choose) and 32GB of internal storage. The 64GB variant of the 4GB ZenFone 2 model is also available in China, but not via Spemall at the moment. Intel’s Atom Z3580 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz is powering on the 4GB model, and the Atom Z3560 quad-core chip clocked at 1.8GHz is ticking under the hood of a 2GB model. 13-megapixel camera can be found on the back of both of these handsets, and a 5-megapixel snapper is available up front. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Asus’ ZenUI on top of Google’s OS. 4G LTE connectivity is supported by both models.
