Asus Introduced Two Smartphone Accessories Recently, One Of Them Brings Xenon Flash To The Table

Asus LolliFlash and ZenFlash_2

We haven’t heard much from Asus lately. The company did, however, release multiple ZenFone 2 models in Taiwan quite recently. This Chinese smartphone manufacturer isn’t releasing all that many Android-based smartphones lately. An interesting report did come our way recently though, which might make you really happy if you like to take pictures with your smartphone. Anyhow, let’s see what’s this all about.

What are we talking about here? Well, a xenon flash. LED flash is a standard in today’s smartphones, but Asus might let you add xenon flash units to your Asus smartphone in the future, which should provide increase the usability of your smartphone’s camera in low-lit situations. Along with the ZenFone 2 launch in Taiwan, Asus has announced the ZenFlash and LolliFlash units. ZenFlash is a xenon flash dongle that connects via USB OTG to your handset, and you can stick it on the back of your phone. We still don’t know if the ZenFlash will work on non-Asus devices though, stay tuned for that.

The second gadget that was announced, was the LolliFlash. This is a circular dual-tone LED torch which has its own battery. You can connect LolliFlash to your smartphone via the 3.5mm headphone jack. This should work with any smartphone without a problem considering there’s no communication between your smartphone and the LolliFlash unit, you simply leave it on and take your shot. The LolliFlash comes with a set of three color filters (blue, red and yellow), which actually double as protective covers.

The company still hasn’t announced when will these gadgets be available for purchase, nor how much will they cost. We’ll let you know as soon as we get more details regarding either of these two devices. It seems odd that Asus didn’t reveal them at MWC, this might suggest that the company will make them available in Asia only, though that’s not confirmed at this point either. As a side note, Lenovo did reveal something similar at CES, the Xtension Selfie Flash, though that gadget doesn’t work with non-Lenovo handsets, unfortunately. You can check out both of these devices in the gallery down below.
