Huawei’s financial report shows that the company did great in 2014, their revenue went 30% up compared to 2013, which is commendable. That doesn’t surprise me though, this China-based smartphone OEM released some really great hardware last year, no to mention that they improved their Emotion UI skin significantly. Their software is much more pleasant to use now and… well, flat. Huawei P8, Ascend Mate 7 and Honor 6 Plus were the best devices by this company in 2014, at least in my humble opinion. Let us know which Huawei-branded device did you like best last year.
That being said, Huawei’s P8 handset has been rumored for a long time now. We’ve already seen some leaked material and now we finally have some official news. Huawei’s director of marketing communications, Jerry Huang, has basically confirmed that the P8 will arrive in April. In his interview with Pocket-link, he said that this new handset will be unveiled on April 15 in London, which is Wednesday by the way. Mr. Huang didn’t give out any additional details about the device though, but the phone’s designer, Joonsuh Kim, claims that this handset is an “absolute beauty”, he said that about the whole P series though.
The Huawei Ascend P7 sported a 5-inch 1080p display along with 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera. 8-megapixel camera was located on the front side of the phone, and this thing is powered by a 1.8GHz quad-core chip by Huawei. The Huawei P8 (Huawei will ditch the ‘Ascend’ branding) will definitely improve upon these specs, and according to the latest leaks, it will sport a 5.2-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM and will be powered by Huawei’s Kirin 930 64-bit processor. 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) is also mentioned, same goes for the 2,600mAh battery and Android Lollipop out of the box. This is the latest leaked image of the device, though we don’t know if it’s legit, of course.
Either way, it looks like we can expect this thing to launch in April, and Huawei also plans to launch some tablets and wearables during MWC in Barcelona in March, so stay tuned for that.
