HTC To Announce More Entry-Level Smartphones In Q1 2015

HTC is really interesting company. This smartphone manufacturer makes great devices in every sense, at least in my humble opinion, and yet they’re unable to compete with the top selling smartphone OEMs out there. HTC is well-known for their build quality and their Sense UI has come a long way over the years, it’s a really useful UI at the moment and really adds to the Android experience. This Taiwan-based company is doing its best to adapt to the market and increase their sales numbers considering their financial results were rather poor in the past, the company managed to turn significant profit lately due to their decision to cut costs. These are good news for HTC as far as finances go, but they had to let go of many people and really tighten the knot, so this is not a long-term solution by any stretch of the imagination. The company simply has to find a way to sell more devices and they have to find a way to do that fast.

HTC North Asia’s president, Jack Tong, said that the company will produce more entry-level 4G handsets in that region in the first quarter of 2015 by adding that they’ll sell those devices over the internet. Company’s internet sales are going well at the moment and it seems like HTC is trying to take advantage of that. They are trying to adapt Xiaomi’s sales model in Asia, that is quite obvious, and judging by the recent results, it’s working. HTC has been producing a lot more mid-range handsets lately, but they’ll be forced to keep those prices down in order to compete with the likes of Xiaomi and Meizu in China, same thing goes for their global smartphone sales. I always considered HTC similar to Sony in that perspective, they just price their handsets way too high, even the low-mid range ones, and no wonder they’re unable to move more devices. If you also consider that HTC spends significantly less on marketing than some other OEMs do, you get a really nice and clear picture of why HTC is unable to sell a ton of devices despite the fact they really know how to make a solid smartphone, great even.

Mr. Tong has also announce that the RE Camera sales are going great, better than expected, they expect to cross 20,000 units sold mark before the end of the year. The RE Camera is also another way HTC is trying to differentiate and get some following, unlike what they’ve been doing in the past.
