Oppo has launched 2 new handsets last month during company’s press conference in Singapore. Oppo N3 is company’s new flagship device and Oppo N1’s successor, we still didn’t get an explanation why Oppo decided to skip the N2 branding. Anyhow, this handset is a real beast as far as specifications and build quality go and it comes with a motorized 16-megapixel rotating camera on the top of the device. Oppo R5, on the other hand, is also a rather powerful device though it sports somewhat more modest specs than its big brother. R5 is currently also the thinnest phone in the world, it’s only 4.85mm thick. It seems like Oppo still isn’t done with releasing smartphones this year though.
A mysterious new device surfaced on GFXBench benchmarks, dubbed Oppo U3. According to the listing, this handset will sport a 5.6-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 1.1GB of internal storage. No, it’s not a typo, the listing actually says the handset will sport 1.1GB of internal storage which leads me to believe that Oppo is currently testing the device or something of the sort and still hasn’t sorted out the storage part of the handset. This handset will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6752 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz which comes with Mali-T760 GPU for graphics rendering. 12-megapixel camera is listed as this device’s rear-facing shooter and a 5-megapixel snapper should be located on the front of the device. Oppo U3 will ship with Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Oppo’s UI on top of it, of course.
Considering the storage listing, this handset might be in testing at the moment, which could mean we won’t be seeing it hit the market anytime soon. I’m only guessing of course, considering we don’t see listings like this that often, storage is usually listed properly. Either way, considering the processor choice, this handset might be somewhat cheaper than the recently launched N3 and R5 handset, which is a great thing actually. Both of those devices are priced extremely high by the company and I’d even argue that Oppo made a mistake there, we’ll find out soon enough.
