Xiaomi is coming strong, the company is expanding fast and it’s just a matter of time this Chinese manufacturer makes a significant presence in Europe and the US. It has to enter South American and Russian market before expanding elsewhere though, there are lots of obstacles for the company on the way though. Xiaomi Mi4 is company’s current flagship device and as you probably already know, Xiaomi devices ship with company’s very own MIUI OS. Mi4 and a bunch of other Xiaomi devices are currently running MIUI 5, but that is about to change soon. Company’s co-founder just announced that MIUI 6 is now stable and that the company has started pushing updates to Xiaomi users who own Xiaomi Mi3 or Mi4 handsets. You can upgrade to MIUI 6 OTA or via your computer, you need to install Xioami’s upgrade software in order to update your device that way. Lei Jun said that Redmi 1S and Redmi Note version of the MIUI 6 software is in the works as well and that it will be available rather soon. The update will quite probably be available before the end of this year.
MIUI 6 was already released to Mi3 and Mi4 handsets in August, but that was the beta version of the OS. MIUI 6 was released back in August and the update brought along a ton of new features. The design is now more flat, the OS actually reminds me a lot of Apple’s new iOS as far as the design goes, but it’s not exactly a secret that Xiaomi is often inspired by Apple’s OS software and hardware. The whole OS was basically redesigned and it looks way better now in my humble opinion. Homescreen gestures have been added as well as seamless sync with MiCloud throughout the MIUI OS. Browser has picked up some new tricks and you get 10GB of MiCloud storage out of the box. Security has been improved as well as battery consumption. Xiaomi has optimized RAM performance as well as their Linux Kernel in order to allow smoother performance throughout the system, Smart CGroup, Bitmap Cache, TrimHeaps and ZRAM optimizations took place. There are many more additions to the OS itself which you can check out via the link above and if you’d like to check out our top five, click here.
