The rise of taxi and urban driving apps has led to a truckload of innovation, but Luxe Valet is content to let the big guys like Uber and Lyft duke it out: Luxe just wants to take care of your car for you.
Luxe’s services deal with the issue of urban parking and how it tends to be more trouble than it’s worth. Navigating to your own (inevitably expensive) parking spot, at least a few blocks from where you want to be, is a pain in all but the most well arranged cities, and San Francisco is far from an exception. Luxe Valet has a different kind of solution: Hire a temporary valet from a smartphone app.
This on-demand valet parking app seeks to meet demands on the other side of the market from Uber, appealing to those who have their own cars and still want to drive around themselves. The website does a nifty job of explaining how the process works. Open up the app and input your location before you head out. Drive right up to the doors (or stadium, walkway, etc.) and a valet from Luxe will be waiting to take your car and drive it to the nearest parking garage. If you want to top off your gas tank or clean your car, let the valets know and they will complete these extra services, too.
Once you are finished, open the app again and specify a delivery destination, and your car will be waiting their for you in about 10 to 15 minutes. If you get nervous about how your car is doing without you, you can check up on it with a tracking feature the app provides.
The invoice is sent right to your phone too. Rates vary but Luxe says they are around $5 per hour, to a maximum of $15 per day, with various discounts available. It forms deals with various garages around the city, leasing out parking spots to meet demand. Right now Luxe Valet is only available in San Francisco, but the company is working to push into other cities.
So if you will be in San Fran in the next few months, why not try out Luxe Valet? Or if you’re in the mood to shop around, why not try Zirx and Vatler, competing valet apps with competing prices and competing strange names? See which one you think will make it out of the SF hotbed first.
