Sony just pulled the curtain up at their hands on event for the Xperia Z3, and they announced that Verizon Wireless would indeed be getting a variant of the Sony Xperia Z3 exclusive to their carrier, known as the Xperia Z3v model. Essentially this is the exact same phone as the original Xperia Z3 that well see go to T-Mobile, just with the Verizon Wireless logo on it. That means the same 3GB of RAM, the same 20.7MP rear facing camera and the same 16GB of storage with expandable up to 128GB via microSD. And, of course it also means the same PS4 Remote Play feature that captivated us about the Xperia Z3 when it was announced at IFA last month, as well as embedded wireless charging, and everything else we saw on the original device.
Verizon customers finally get a confirmation on this phone from Sony officially after hearing rumors about the phone coming to more than just T-Mobile over the past month or so, and according to Sony it’ll be available to contracted Verizon Wireless customer for just $199 on a brand new 2-year contract. It also gets the Live On YouTube app for livecasting videos to the web, something that should come in pretty handy thanks to the Xperia Z3’s 4K video recording capabilities. Jumping back to the price for a moment, Sony states that any Verizon Wireless customer that buys the Xperia Z3v along with the Xperia Tablet Z2 as a bundle will get a $200 discount off the whole purchase of those two devices together. That sounds like a pretty decent deal if you were already considering picking up Sony’s great Z2 tablet.
Anyone looking to grab this device on Verizon’s network can pick it up starting October 23rd, which gives us just under 13 days on the wait, if you subscribe to Big Red that is. The Sony experiences through Verizon don’t stop there either, as Sony details that Verizon will officially be carrying the Sony Smartwatch 3 as well, Sony’s first Android Wear powered smartwatch at a price of $249. Now that the confirmation is out there, are you going to be picking this device up? I personally know a few people that were waiting to hopefully have the opportunity to upgrade to it. Will this be your first Sony device if you grab it?
