The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is the successor to many successful phablets and it gives any high-end device a run for its money, but you won’t be keeping it forever. It may be time to upgrade and hand the Note 4 over to its next owner. You should always perform a factory reset before doing this, though.
A factory data reset wipes your device completely, taking it back to the way it was when you so excitingly turned it on for the first time. Doing this will get rid of all your files and private information.
We advice that you back everything up before doing this. This process will delete any files stored in the phone, so save any important files elsewhere. Also make sure your phone is plugged in or you have enough charge to go through this process without the phone dying. That wouldn’t be good news.
When that is done, you can go ahead and follow the steps below to take care of business. There are two ways to factory reset a Samsung Galaxy note 4. A soft reset allows you to wipe it via the phone’s regular settings. However, you can’t always access those settings.
If your phone is having issues and you need to factory reset, you can also do a hard reset by using a combination of buttons.
How to soft reset a Samsung Galaxy Note 4
- Turn your phone on and unlock the screen.
- Go to your Settings app.
- Scroll down to the “User and backup”.
- Select “Backup and reset”.
- Tap on “Factory data reset” and then select “Reset device”.
- After that, simply select “Delete all”.
- Your phone will do its job and reset after some time. You are done!
How to hard reset a Samsung Galaxy Note 4
- Turn your phone off or make sure it’s turned off.
- Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
- When the phone vibrates, release the Home and Power buttons, but keep pressing Volume Up button.
- This will launch the Android Recovery System. You can release all buttons when this happens.
- From here, you can use the Volume buttons to navigate and the Power button to make a selection.
- Select “wipe data / factory reset”.
- Select “Yes — delete all user data”.
- The process will take place. When done, just select “Reboot system now” to restart your device.
