This one is for all you lucky Moto 360 owners out there, an update to the device appears to be rolling out right now. Don’t get too excited though, it’s definitely not the update to Android Wear 2.0 but it’s a lot better than nothing. Some users over on reddit and XDA seem to be reporting that their Moto 360’s are receiving what appears to be a minor update.
Users who have installed the update tell us that it pushes the software version up to 1.0.1.1448224 from 1.0.1.138725. As you can clearly tell from these numbers, the update is on the smaller side. Although, while this is a smaller update and definitely not an update to Android Wear 2.0, it does improve one very important aspect of the Moto 360. That aspect is performance, yes folks you read that correctly, this update will finally eliminate some of that nasty lag most Moto 360 owners were experiencing. At least, that’s the general intention of what the update is supposed to provide, and hopefully that’s what all users will notice and experience. This means smoother and more responsive Google Now cards and animations. Other than the general performance improvement brought on by the update, here is what else Motorola says the update includes. Better Bluetooth connectivity, the addition of a charging notification, and general bug fixes. These are a few incremental yet much needed improvements and additions to the Moto 360 that we are glad to see.
As of now your Moto 360 might not have the update available, but there is no need to fret. Motorola is rolling the update out in everybody’s favorite way, staged rollouts, so you all know what that means. It could take up to a few days before you see the update on your Moto 360, it’s a bummer but there is nothing anybody can do about it besides be patient. If you currently own a Moto 360 and are lucky enough to receive the update today then please let us know what you think about it in the comments section below, or on our G+ post. Are the performance updates noticeable? Is the general UI speed now up to par with the LG G Watch? Anything you have to say about the update, we would love to hear it.
