It is common to see a full frame camera sensor in high-end DSLR but how about in a compact camera? Well, that is the main attraction of the upcoming Sony RX1 - if the leaked information is true, of course. Featuring a full frame 24-megapixels 35mm CMOS sensor that is also equipped into another upcoming camera by Sony (the A99 SLT), the RX1 comes together with a fixed Carl Zeiss f/2.0 lens.
Apart from the sensor, there are quite a number of Sony A99 SLT features inside Sony RX1 such as 14-bit RAW, an ISO range of 100 to 25600 and a 3-inch display. With a body that is said to be made of magnesium (not weather sealed though), the camera also comes with 5fps continues shooting and AVCHD 2.0 video recording capabilities. It has also been said that Sony RX1 will come with the option of optical and electronic viewfinders.
However, this compact camera comes at a price tag of RM 8,684 (USD 2,799) which is rather hefty for a fixed lens compact camera. The new Sony RX1 together with Sony A99 and NEX-6 are expected to be officially revealed to the world tomorrow, so you should be able to check out their actual capabilities very soon.[Source: PhotoPrice.ca and Sony Alpha Rumors]
