Reviews: Asus Taichi with Dual Display [Computex 2012]

Want a tablet but also need a notebook? Well, forget the Asus Transformer that comes with a keyboard dock that doubles as an extended battery pack, check out what the company just announced at the on-going Computex 2012 – Asus TAICHI that comes with not one, but two IPS displays. In notebook mode, you can use the TAICHI with a backlit QWERTY keyboard and trackpad just like a typical notebook but once you close the lid – you don’t even have to swivel the display 180 degree around like a tablet PC – and voila! you get a tablet with the same display dimension.

Available in 11.6” and 13.3”, the tablet and notebook hybrid may pack two displays but they are reportedly as thin and light as the company’s Zenbook line. Powered by Intel Ivy Bridge Core i7 processors, TAICHI will pack 4GB of RAMSSD storage, dual-band 802.11n Wi-FiFHD/Super IPS+ displays and two cameras. Apart from the displays and keyboard, the TAICHI series also comes with a power button, lock toggle, mini VGA, USB 3.0 power ports, headphone jack, micro DVI, volume control and a rotation lock button.
