Malaysian influencer Gatita Yan (Tong Lee Yan) recently celebrated her birthday with boyfriend and local YouTuber Lim Shangjin (林尚进). The couple posted a few birthday photos which looked a little familiar to netizens.
The couple supposedly started dating this year on 31st March. The relationship started shortly after Lim broke up with YouTuber Qiu Wen (秋雯). The two parted amicably, but it certainly didn’t take long for Lim to find someone new in his life. Qiu Wen on the other hand has sworn off dating “internet celebrities”.
Lim posted a birthday photo of Gatita on his Facebook to commemorate her celebration on 26th October. “Happy birthday, Gatita Yan!” he wrote. “I wish you happiness and health everyday. I hope to celebrate (your birthday) together every year.”
His caption was cute, but what caught netizens’ eyes were the tags he included. “No holding hands,” he added. “Then it (will be) impossible to break up.” The tags tickled netizens as in the photo, Lim was carrying Gatita on one arm. Another YouTuber, Michell Lim joked, “I believe (it). You didn’t use your hands to lift her.”
While others celebrated their relationship, another netizen brought up Lim’s ex. “Once, you said that you’d end up with another (person),” they commented. A photo of Lim carrying Qiu Wen the exact same way on her birthday was added.
Netizens joked that carrying girls on one hand was Lim’s favourite pose. One comment pointed out where they had seen the pose before. “Hi, Gan Jiang (干将) and Mo Ye (莫邪)!” they exclaimed, referring to a pair of game characters based off Chinese literature. Another netizen decided to do a bit of photoshop with Hong Kong actress Xue Ying Yi (薛影仪). The clever editing delighted other netizens.
Jokes aside, Lim and Gatita seem to be having a smooth relationship so far. We’re not sure why Lim likes carrying all his girlfriends, but to each their own, we suppose.
Many thought Lim and Qiu Wen’s relationship would last when he asked her out. However, time proved otherwise. Hopefully Lim’s latest relationship will last this time!
