The so-called “hottest party of the summer”, is this Saturday August 21, live from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. This is one of the few times where a WWE PPV is actually on a Saturday instead of a Sunday. The likely reason is that the NFL Preseason has already started and the Las Vegas Raiders has a home game on Sunday and need their stadium. It’s also the first time that SummerSlam has been at a Stadium, versus a smaller arena like most PPVs.

SummerSlam is a big deal this year. Not only because it’s the hottest party of the summer, but because it has three legends competing at the event. That includes John Cena, Goldberg and Edge. Not to mention that fans are back too! For just the third PPV since the pandemic started. There will be around 70,000 fans attending SummerSlam.

In the US, you can watch SummerSlam on Peacock. It’s cheaper than the WWE Network was at just $4.99 per month. And if you have Comcast or Spectrum, you can get it for free. The PPV is included in the cost of Peacock. So it’s a no-brainer to sign up for Peacock. Which you can do here.

Main Event preview

Right now, the hottest thing going in the company, is Roman Reigns vs John Cena. Roman Reigns has been on a roll since last year’s SummerSlam where he first won the WWE Universal Championship. He’s been unstoppable with Paul Heyman by his side. And Cena looks to stop hime (that’s if, Roman can see him). This is not the first time that Cena has faced Reigns. They faced a few years ago, and many WWE fans will remember that Reigns forgot part of his promo, and Cena schooled him about it.

Reigns has quite the protection around him too. The so-called “Head of the Table” has his cousins, the Uso’s doing all of his dirty work. Which is part of how he’s been able to hold onto the Universal Championship for nearly a year. Reigns as well as the Uso’s, come from a pretty big wrestling family, in fact it’s likely the biggest. He’s also related to a number of other WWE superstars, including Nia Jax, Tamina Snuka (daughter of Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka), and of course, The Rock.

That’s not the only big match happening at SummerSlam this Saturday. The other main event coming from Raw is between the WWE Champion Bobby Lashley and Goldberg. Many WWE fans are upset that Goldberg is again getting a title opportunity. Goldberg is no spring chicken, as he is now 54 years old. And some of his previous matches, have not been good. Including his match with the Undertaker in Saudi Arabia.

But Goldberg made his return a few weeks ago to inform Lashley that he was next. The feud includes Goldberg’s real-life son, so it’s hitting real close to home for both superstars. Of course, it’s not quite the match that fans wanted, as many are still waiting for the dream match of Bobby Lashley vs Brock Lesnar, as their styles are very similar. However, Lesnar has not been seen since he dropped the WWE Championship to Drew Mcintyre at Wrestlemania last year. Don’t forget that Lesnar does have some health issues he’s fought his whole career, so don’t be surprised if he doesn’t return anytime soon.

SummerSlam is one of the four big PPVs every year for WWE – along with Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania and Survivor Series – so if it seems like the WWE is pulling out all of the stops, it’s because they are. It’s also to help drum up ratings and ticket sales, since fans are back in the stadiums.

What time does WWE SummerSlam 2021 start?

WWE SummerSlam technically gets underway at 7PM ET on Saturday, August 21. Like with all of its PPVs for the past seven years, there is a pre-show that starts at 7PM. This is where WWE has a number of commentators getting you ready for SummerSlam. Going over the matches, giving some predictions and such. There is also a pre-show match, which is likely going to be either Alexa Bliss vs Eva Marie or Drew McIntyre vs Jinder Mahal.

The full-on show will start at 8PM ET. Typically, PPVs last until around 11PM. However, during the pandemic, the WWE did shorter PPVs, and the fans loved it. So it might actually end around 10:30 instead. But with their being ten matches on the card, don’t be surprised if it runs past 11PM ET.
