TAG Heuer Partnered With Nintendo For This Super Mario Smartwatch

The worlds of luxury brands and video games are colliding once more, this time with TAG Heuer and Nintendo for this Super Mario smartwatch. This is essentially just a Mario-themed version of the most recent Connected model. So there’s no new tech inside. It also still runs on Wear OS, and not the upcoming version Google is releasing later this year in partnership with Samsung.

Additionally, there’s no word on whether or not current Wear OS smartwatches will get the software upgrade. And since this is probably running on the same wearable chip as the regular model, this watch probably won’t get the upgrade either. Keep that in mind if you’re considering this timepiece. Because while it is neat, especially if you’re a big fan of the Super Mario franchise, it’ll probably be stuck on old software.

The TAG Heuer Connected Super Mario Edition is a Mario fan collector piece

Fans of video games and specifically Mario, will no doubt love this watch. That being said, this is little more than a collector’s item. Something for the biggest Mario fans out there with the extra money to spare.

Since this is a TAG Heuer Connected, the watch won’t be cheap. It’ll likely be the same price as the original model, so you’re looking at well over $1,000. That means you’d be paying for a smartwatch that probably won’t be bumped to the new software. And in due time won’t be as useful as other newer, and probably more affordable options.

However, this watch comes with a slick Super Mario design. Complete with a matching case to tote it around in when it’s not on your wrist. The watch even has numerous Mario-themed details, like the iconic Mario “M” on the the crown and the strap clasp.

Naturally, the strap is red, and it even has special Super Mario watch faces and features. So, it might stay on the old software, and it might not. But what it certainly will do without a doubt, is provide you with a unique smartwatch that plays to your love of Super Mario games.

And that might be enough to warrant the big price tag if you have the money to throw around. TAG Heuer hasn’t announced official pricing yet. But you can already pre-register to be first in line when the watch drops.
