Actress Rebecca Nur Al-Islam shared a harrowing experience when her husband, Datuk Nor Azam Sulaiman (who was tested positive Covid-19 and underwent self-quarantine at their home), suddenly had breathing difficulties before being rushed to the hospital earlier on Tuesday (13th July) afternoon.
During an Instagram Live session held yesterday (Wednesday, 14th July), the 35-year-old revealed that she contacted more than 20 private hospitals located in the Klang Valley area. However, much to her disappointment, none of them were able to take her husband as they had reached full capacity.
“My husband has been diagnosed with Covid-19 Stage 4. His oxygen level is in a low state. I was so scared and panicked, I thought about the kids some more. So, his siblings helped call the ambulance and tried to get a bed in a private hospital,” the celeb shared, with tears rolling down her cheek.
“I accompanied my husband in the ambulance, leaving our children behind for a while. At that time, I was still reaching out to any private hospital around KL and Selangor, but the answers were all disappointing,” Rebecca further added. She then revealed that after almost a day of waiting she was finally contacted by a medical centre, informing her there was a vacancy for Covid-19 patients.
At the same time, the “Jangan Tegur Lagi” actress also explained the reason behind her action of sending her husband for treatment at a private hospital. According to her, she fully understands that the public facilities are now critical in handling Covid-19 patients.
Rebecca clarified, “I’m not saying the government hospital or MAEPS isn’t good, I didn’t mean it that way, but I’m afraid the situation there is worst. What can I do is ensure my husband gets his treatment at a private hospital.”
She then revealed that Norazam was admitted to a private medical centre at 10:30pm on Tuesday. “I can’t bear to see my husband cry. He told me, ‘Sayang, please don’t leave me’. I feel really sad that I can’t be there with him right now,” Rebecca said in between sobs.
Meanwhile, Rebecca also called for the government to implement a total lockdown, given the deteriorating situation in Malaysia. “You (the government) have to (carry out) a total lockdown! Please, listen to what I’m saying here,” she expressed. “Although the country will suffer a huge loss, but we’re talking about people’s life here.”
“I’ve been in the same situation, so I’ve become traumatised by it. Our bodies feel like they have been hit by a tree, it hurts a lot. Coughing, chest pain, some even suffer from diarrhoea. Oh my, may God take away our pain and protect us all,” she was quoted as saying.
