At I/O event 2021, Google showcased the emulator preview of the underlying changes of the UI that it was going to introduce with the Wear OS update. Finally, the Wear OS 3.0 UI update is rolling out with the Watch Play Store redesign.
Apparently, only a single user, at the time of reporting this post, claimed to receive the Play Store redesign Wear OS 3.0 UI update on their Suunto 7.
If you have seen the Wear OS 3.0 UI on the Android Studio Beta emulator, you might have seen all the pill-shaped cards inside which carries each item in a list.
The changes can be seen on Wear OS 3.0 UI main homescreen. Moreover, the search button is then placed in a white circle instead of green.
Besides, all the apps are listed with an icon on the left, with each app’s name followed by a star rating underneath. You can decide based on the star ratings whether you should download the app or not.
According to 9To5Google, the new card-based motif in the My Apps updates page can be seen in the new Wear OS 3.0 UI update.
Everything on the new Google Play Store redesign on the Wear OS looks cleaner
Smartwatches don’t sport huge screens. And thankfully, with the new Wear OS 3.0 UI update that brings redesigned Google Play Store, all the store elements look cleaner.
However, do note that the apps listing has not been tweaked. The “Open” button, which you get after you install an app or for the installed apps, is again pill-shaped.
It is light in color and covers the entire width of the display. There is a slight color redesign. Notably, the card is light gray, with white fonts for the text. Menu items are shown in white text on black background.
The good thing is Google last revamped the design of the Play Store back in 2019, and now with the latest Wear OS 3.0 UI update, it is giving it yet again a fresh look.
Further, with the new update, Google at I/O 2021 also announced some changes with the experience of installing apps on a wearable device.
One Reddit user also reported that this new Wear OS Play Store update doesn’t bring the new Material You elements. The update is expected to roll out will expand to more users in the coming days.
If you haven’t received the update, then you should check the software update section of the app of your watch to see if the update is live for you or not.
