Today Nintendo held its E3 showcase, Nintendo Direct, followed by Nintendo Treehouse Live, and during the Direct livestream it showed off another trailer for the sequel to The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild.
At the end of the trailer (which was at the end of the livestream), Nintendo revealed what it has in mind for a release date. 2022. Which means you’ll probably have to wait at least a year to play the Breath Of The Wild sequel.
While it’s certainly possible that Nintendo could release the game early in the year, it seems more likely that it will launch the upcoming title either closer to the Summer or in the latter part of 2022. Whenever the exact date happens to be, rumors speculate that Nintendo will launch the game alongside a brand new version of the Nintendo Switch. Thought to be a Nintendo Switch Pro.
The Breath Of The Wild sequel won’t land until 2022
If you missed the trailer reveal from the livestream, you can watch just the trailer for Breath Of The Wild sequel above. You can also watch the entire Nintendo Direct/Nintendo Treehouse Live showcase in the video below if you want to see all the cool upcoming titles headed for the Nintendo Switch. Which includes a new Metroid game called Metroid Dread, a new Super Smash Brothers Ultimate character, and more.
As for The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2, or whatever it will officially be called, Nintendo clarified twice that it has no plans to launch the game this year. Both at the end of the trailer when it showed the planned 2022 release date, and before showing the trailer in the livestream. Where the company said it had no other campaigns or Nintendo Switch games planned.
Link will take to the skies above Hyrule in the upcoming title
You’re not going to leave Hyrule behind in this new game. But you will have new areas to explore. Specifically in the skies above Hyrule as there will be new floating islands to check out during your adventures.
It appears that a lot of the game will actually have a focus on these new skybound areas. If you were a fan of the first game, the new one seems promising.
