Fitbit has been tracking the sleep routine of users for a long time now. Fitbit snore detection is a new feature that the company is currently working on.
The company is ready to introduce a new feature that will track how much the user snore. The feature will use the device’s microphone in order to detect the snoring volume.
At the moment, the device uses your movement sensors and heart rate to measure your sleep cycle. However, the upcoming features were identified by 9to5Google following the de-compilation of the latest Fitbit APK.
How noise and snore detection will work?
The Fitbit 3.42 version rolled out on Thursday via Play Store. It revealed that Google’s health application will also track why users didn’t have enough sleep or feeling unrested the next morning.
It records your snoring sound in the microphone alongside any other noise around you, which might trouble your sleep. Fitbit snore detection is enabled with noise level awareness, which will differentiate between external and internal noise.
If you are wondering what the device does if the user is sharing the space with someone else while sleeping and the other person might be snoring. Unfortunately, the system is not qualified enough to detect if it is the user snoring or it is someone else sharing the same space.
Ranking the snoring noise
Fitbit app will not only detect the snore, but it will also provide you with a potential ranking. For instance, you will receive a “None to Mild” rank if you snored less than 10 percent in your sleep.
You will get a “Moderate” rank if you snored between 10 percent to 40 percent during the night. The third and final rank is “Frequent” if you snored more than 40% of the time.
Besides snoring noise, the app will also detect the ambient noise during your sleep cycle. The rank begins from “very quiet” if your environment sound is 30 dBA or lower.
If your surrounding has a range of 30–50 dBA, then the app will consider it “Quiet.” If the dBA level is between 50–70, then it will be noted as “Moderate.” While 70–90 dBA is considered “Loud,” 90 dBA or higher will be marked as “Very loud.”
Your sleep pattern match
The “sleep animal” sounds like a fun feature that Fitbit might introduce. Besides Fitbit snore detection, the users can also match their sleep patterns to a list of animals. The users will be matched animals like the bear, dolphin, giraffe, hummingbird, kangaroo, and tortoise based on their sleep.
