Imoo is a new company, yet another China-based smartphone manufacturer. This company was introduced quite recently, it’s actually a part of BBK’s portfolio. For those of you who don’t know, BBK is a Chinese company which owns OPPO, Vivo and OnePlus, and now Imoo, of course. As part of their first post on social media in China (Weibo), Imoo shared a partial render of their upcoming ‘educational’ smartphone. We still do not know when will this smartphone see the light of day, but some additional info and new renders surfaced not long after the initial render hit the web, and the device has been certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) quite recently, read on.
It didn’t take long for the upcoming Imoo smartphone to hit TENAA, we still don’t know what will the company name this phone, but thanks to this certification, we have both its specifications and design. This smartphone resembles a number of Vivo-branded handsets, it sports three capacitive buttons below the display (menu, home and back, respectively), while its bezels aren’t exactly thin. TENAA shows of the device from the front, back, left and right side, and interestingly enough, the button on its left side is not red as it was in the render we’ve seen, which could suggest this is not a ‘record’ button after all. We’ll have to wait for the company to introduce the phone in order to be sure, but this sure is interesting. Both the power / lock and volume rocker keys will be placed on the right side of this phone, and as you can see, the device is made out of metal. You’ll also notice a rather odd-looking sensor on the back, next to the camera, well, according to reports, that is actually some sort of a scanner, that’s all we know.
The upcoming Imoo-branded smartphone will sport a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The device will be fueled by MediaTek’s Helio P10 64-bit octa-core processor, and a 2,930mAh battery will also be a part of this package, and it will not be removable. TENAA’s listing did not share the phone’s camera info with us, but thanks to a recent AnTuTu listing, we do know that the 13-megapixel snapper will be placed on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel unit will be available up front. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the Imoo smartphone, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find the company’s custom UI, and a number of educational apps included, at least if rumors are to be believed. The device will measure 158 x 78 x 7mm, while it will weight 154.5 grams. This smartphone will be available in Rose Gold, Silver and Champagne Gold color variants.
