Remember how I blogged about “The Journey of My Vision” here? I have a total power of -7.20 short sighted on each eye, and also mild astigmatism. Hence, I went for an iLASIK prodecure in Vista Eye Specialist. The procedure went really well and it took us only 10 -15 minutes to create clear vision.
This is how I feel THE NEXT MORNING. I felt like singing “A Whole New World” really loud. Life after Lasik surgery is indeed a whole new world. I see things in a completely different light now, appreciating the true beauty of life, even KampungBoy in HD looks even better with my new vision.
I have been going back for my 1 Day, 1 Week and 1 Month check up. Doctor Anson mentioned that everything is normal, except for some dryness in my eyes, which is a very common problem post lasik surgery. He prescribed me with some eye emulsion which will keep my eyes moisture. It is also very important to use the antibiotic eye drop, steroid eye drop and lubricating eye drops as instructed by doctor throughout my LASIK recovery.
LASIK surgery tends to result in a few temporary side effects, including light sensitivity. It only lasted for a week. There were also some redness (that looks like blood clots) on my eyes caused by suction during my LASIK surgery. This is why I have been wearing the protective eye wear given to me for about a week. The redness were gone in two weeks time.
During my first and second check up, my results showed that I have a total power of -1.00 short-sighted on each eye. For my third check up, my total power improved to -0.50. It is common for the eyes to continue to heal for at least 3 months after LASIK, which means your vision will also continue to improve. Since I have more severe prescriptions, my eyes can continue to heal for up to 6 months.
The staffs also passed me a very thoughtful souvenir. It reminds me that getting LASIK is one of the best decisions of my life.
l can’t wait to enjoy water sports and all my favourite outdoor activities after my LASIK surgery. I no longer have the burden of glasses or contacts in my life. I don’t have to pack for contact lens, glasses, solutions and casing when I travel – more luggage space for shopping!
