When you spend your time in a city like New York, where corporate America was born and lives, nearly every other person you meet works somewhere in finance.
It is common to encounter two suited-up individuals exchanging business cards while discussing taxes, mergers and stocks, and more often than not, you will hear them talk about how many “tours” of “busy season” they did in public accounting.
More like “get busy” season…
But in all seriousness, while accountants may be perceived by much of our society as boring, math-loving squares, disinterested in anything not involving money, there are a lot of good things that come with dating an accountant.
So listen up ladies, because by the end of this list, counting beans is going to sound like an activity you can really get into.
1. They are employed.
This should go without saying, but in today’s job market, it’s not always a given. While most other industries have been struggling to offer college graduates jobs, accounting is an industry that is always hiring.
Everybody needs an accountant: businesses, not-for-profit organizations, banks, schools, even your parents. It is one of the only jobs that will guarantee you won’t ever have to front him rent money because it’s only a matter of time before he catches his “big break.”
2. Money will never be an issue.
Following up on the whole “actually having a job” thing is the whole “having money” thing. Some jobs will pay you just enough to get by, but accountants often find themselves in an above-average salary range for people their age.

Accountants know better than anyone what it’s like to have no time to even send a text message, literally. For a traditional major accounting firm, busy season means 80-hour weeks. That means 14-hour days during the week and an “easy” 10-hour Saturday.
If you’re busy, accountants will understand, because they’re just as busy themselves; so don’t worry, there’s no pressure to respond to a text the minute it comes in.

6. Your life will be at an all-time efficiency rate.
When you start working, time becomes so much more valuable. Accountants worship efficiency in both the business setting and in their personal lives.
When you date an accountant, they will assure you get in and out of restaurants in a timely manner, have vacations planned by the hour and that you get every ounce of fun you can squeeze out from each weekend.

Firms and clients hold galas, concerts, happy hours, seasonal parties and sporting events regularly, and it is common for accountants throughout the firm to each get invited to couple events.

It had to be mentioned somewhere, and while not all accountants are tax accountants, they still all know how to do them (or are very good friends with someone who can) and will make sure you are not missing out on a single refund dollar.

As an accountant, it is important that the people in your life, including your clients and your friends, trust you to advise them in the best way possible. Accountants are everything you look for in a boyfriend: loyal, trustworthy, confidential, interested and helpful.
